Banaras Hindu University was founded by the great nationalist leader, Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, in 1916 with the cooperation of great personalities like Dr Annie Besant, who viewed it as the University of India. Formerly this university was known as Central Hindu University. It is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), and Ministry of Education (MOE) and accredited by NAAC with an ‘A’ grade.
