About Dnipro City
- Dnipro, previously known as Katerynoslav and Dnipropetrovsk, is a city in south-central Ukraine.
- It is situated along the Dnieper River, near its confluence with the Samara.
- The construction of a dam around 50 miles downstream significantly expanded the river.
- Originally founded in 1783 as Katerynoslav on the river’s north bank, it was relocated to its current site on the south bank in 1786.
- Renamed Novorossiysk from 1796 to 1802, it regained its old name and became a provincial centre.
