Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya is a large and old university in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. It became a central university in 2009. Before that, Guru Ghasidas University (GGU). The university first opened on June 16, 1983. The campus covers 700 acres and is located about five kilometres from Bilaspur town. The Arpa River flows alongside the campus. The University Auditorium near the administrative block can accommodate about 800 people.
