National Sanskrit University, earlier known as Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha is a central university in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. The school was established in 1961 under the Ministry of Education by the Government of India an Act of Parliament and premier institution in the field of higher learning in Sanskrit studies, Traditional Sastras and Sanskrit Teacher Education. It was funded by the Ministry of Education through UGC. The University has a long history in the service of Sanskrit education. In the year 1987, the Vidyapeetha was declared as a Deemed to be University by the Government of India. Admission Procedure

The admission to National Sanskrit University is based on CUET UG, CUET PG, NCET and VVET for various undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma courses. All candidates seeking admission must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria for the respective courses and entrance tests. The candidates seeking admission should submit the application on the Samarth Portal only. The university admission process aims to maintain transparency and provide equal opportunities to all eligible candidates. The following guidelines describe the admission procedure that can help candidates secure admission to their desired programs at National Sanskrit University.

  • For PhD programs, candidates must qualify for the VVET (Vidyavaridhi Entrance Test).
  • Undergraduate programs such as BA, B.Ed, and other UG courses require candidates to clear the NCET (National Common Entrance Test). Admissions to other undergraduate programs are based on the CUET UG (Common University Entrance Test—Undergraduate).
  • Postgraduate programs require qualifying for the CUET PG (Common University Entrance Test – Postgraduate).

Process of Applying Vidyavaridhi (Ph.D.)

  • Download the application form from this link: https://forms.gle/rtg5i7Q6L3JG9Edp9.
  • Fill out the form and attach the required documents.
  • Pay the required fees via a Demand Draft (DD) in favor of “Registrar, National Sanskrit University, Tirupati.”
  • Upload a PDF copy of the filled application form, documents, and the Demand Draft (Xerox copy) using the Google Form.
  • Send the hard copy of the application form, documents, and the original Demand Draft by Speed Post or Registered Post to the University before the deadline.

Professional Courses

Shiksha Acharya (eq. to M.Ed.)Students who have passed Shastri/B.A (Sanskrit)/ Equivalent degree or Acharya /M.A Sanskrit/ Equivalent degree and Shiksha Shastri/ B.Ed. with Sanskrit Teaching Methodology with minimum 50% of marks from any recognized University are eligible. For the candidates Shiksha Acharya (M.Ed.) belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwD category, a relaxation of 5% marks will be allowed in the minimum pass percentage.
Atleast 50% of marks in both theory and practicum and 50 % of marks in aggregate are required in Shiksha Shastri./B.Ed.(with Sanskrit Teaching Methodology) for admission into Shiksha Acharya (M.Ed.) programme.
Shiksha Sastri (B.Ed)a) Shastri (Sanskrit)/ B.A(L/OL)./ B.A. (Honors) /B.Sc. with Sanskrit as a main subject having 1000 or more marks in three years degree program OR Vidwanmadhyama / Siromani (Sanskrit) (Integrated course) in 10+2+3 Scheme OR Acharya / M.A. (Sanskrit) / Vidwaduttama OR equivalent degree from any recognized Indian University OR recognized examining body having obtained at least 50% marks or equivalent grade.
b) Eligibility conditions for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwD categories will be 45% marks in the qualifying examinations.
c) The proof of having passed the qualifying examination should be submitted at the time of admission. Otherwise, the candidature of the applicant shall stand cancelled.

Undergraduate Level Courses (UG)

SASTRIPass in any one of the following examinations as in the 10+2 pattern.
SASTRI VEDABASHYAMThose who have passed/completed Samhita (Rigveda/KrishnaYajurveda/Sukkla Yajurveda/Samaveda and Atharva Veda) and have some knowledge of Sanskrit are eligible, subject to the passing of the entrance test (oral & written) conducted by the university in Samhita of the respective Veda and Sanskrit on the specified date. The Entrance Test Board will be constituted by the N.S. University.
B.A.as specified in the Sastri programme.
B.Sc. Yoga10+2/Prak-Sastri / Intermediate or an examination as equivalent 
recognized by the Vidyapeetha are eligible to apply
B.Sc. ComputersPrak-Sastri/Intermediate or any other equivalent exam with Sanskrit and Mathematics as the subjects of study.

M.Sc. in Yoga TherapyOnly those candidates who have passed any Bachelor Degree/Sammanita Sastri examination or an examination recognised by the University as equivalent are eligible to apply. In addition, they have to enclose Physical Fitness Certificate obtained from not below the rank of Assistant civil Surgeon.
MAIMTGraduates from any discipline having secured a minimum of 50% marks are eligible to join in this programme.
